Narcolepsy research: Article on why lunch makes us sleepy (and how it affects our orexin molecules)

image

Here is an interesting article, titled, “Siesta Science: Why Lunch Makes Us Sleepy.”  Although the article is very short, it explains that glucose can block the neurons that make orexins, molecules that research has shown are already often reduced or malfunctioning in Narcoleptics.

If you are interested, I would highly suggest that you read this article.  It’s not even a page long!

I think this has to be one of my shortest posts ever, lol.

Have a good day!

I tried the link for this article and got a whole bunch of pop ups and things on malware/spyware.... I think that that article has since been moved or the site has been corrupted. I just thought I would let you know.

Thanks!

Hmmm. I just tried it and it worked fine for me, and no pop ups or other bad stuff either. But then again I probably have an unusually good set up computer security wise, since my husband does that stuff for me and he's a computer expert (getting his PHD in computer science). But thank you for the heads up, I appreciate it.

I'm on the highest amount of provigil allowed but have recently tried taking pure honey a few times a day. This seems to have helped in my ability to stay awake. I don't discount this article but part of the sluggisness might be due to when we eat. A large amount of blood goes into the digestive process. which means there is less to transport oxegen to the brain. Mind you this is honey straight from the bottle with no other food involved. Glucose is the food of the brain. I was blessed by the way in that I am also what is considered the worst of the worst with every know sympton of {N}The blessed part is a joke by the way.
